Three Things to Consider When Boondocking

We are often asked what is Boonedocking. In this video we explain what Boonedocking is and what you need to know before venturing in this direction of camping. There are three tings you must take into consideration when Boonedocking. Boonedocking also known as primitive or dispersed camping has little to no amenities. Therefore you must make arrangements for things like water, bathrooms or electric.

1 Water, if the campsite does not have water you will have to bring it. You will want to make sure you take in considerations on what you will be using water for. Will it be for drinking and cooking only. Will you be doing dishes, laundry and or showers. You will have to take all of that in consideration as to bring enough for your stay.

2 Bathroom, are you comfortable digging a hole and going in the woods? Do you have a compost toilet, or will you use a bucket with a trash liner and kitty litter? Where will you dispose your waste? All of these things need to be taken into consideration so if a prevy is not available.

3 Electric, do you need electric? If so how are you going to provide electric? Will you use a generator and batteries or solar panels. What will you use electric for and how much will you use? These are the things to consider when planning to Boonedock.
